Research Scientist, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)
We are an independent consultancy in Vancouver British Columbia specializing in patient-centered research, epidemiology, evidence synthesis, and health economics. Our team includes qualitative researchers, epidemiologists, health economists, statisticians, and IT specialists. Our projects are led by senior team members with extensive experience across a wide range of HEOR studies. We collaborate with an extensive network of external academic and clinical experts on studies that align with their core areas of expertise.
We are looking to hire an experienced research scientist to support a wide variety of pharmacoepidemiologic and health outcomes research projects.
This is a permanent full-time position with preference to candidates located in Vancouver, Toronto or Ottawa.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the conduct and analysis of data from pharmacoepidemiologic studies, including drug utilization studies, safety and effectiveness evaluations, and risk management,
Developing, implementing and interpreting observational studies using real-world data,
Managing the development of study materials including protocols, statistical analysis plans, shell tables, and other study-specific materials,
Developing project deliverables that meet high-quality standards, while ensuring timely and on-budget completion,
Managing submissions to ethical review boards or boards for data requests,
o Ability to conduct statistical analyses and generate data visualizations independently is preferred but not required.
Leading projects and coordinating project team members,
Acting as the primary point of contact with clients,
Identifying project risks and liaising with the project director to develop solutions,
Mentoring junior team members, and
Contributing to scientific writing and publication development.
Required skills include:
Excellent oral and written communication,
Strong independent working skills,
Organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently within a team environment as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Familiarity with a statistical or data visualization package would be an advantage.
Education:
MSc or PhD in Epidemiology, Behavioural Psychology, Health Economics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or Public Health, or equivalent experience
Experience:
2-4 years of health research experience in a consultancy (ideal) or academic work environment,
Experience leading prospective or retrospective observational studies, ideally within a consulting environment, and
Managerial, leadership, and project management skills.
Location:
This position is for Toronto, Ottawa, or Vancouver (but remote is also possible).
