Job Requisition ID #24WD76746Position OverviewThe HCI & Visualization Research Group at Autodesk Research is seeking an experienced research scientist to work on the latest research topics at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence. This broad topic area could encompass research on: how to interact with generative AI systems; how to collect the right data to make AI systems successful in design software; develop interaction techniques to address the unique challenges of generative solutions in a precision design environment; and imagining how design will be different with future technological breakthroughs.The mission of the User Interface Research Group is to apply Human-Computer Interaction expertise to develop fundamental understandings of how humans perceive, learn, and interact with technology, and based on these understandings, to develop novel interfaces and visualizations to solve current problems, explore future opportunities, and influence Autodesk\'s corporate strategy. Of particular interest for this position is the intersection of HCI and AIYou will report to: Sr. Principal Research Scientist, ManagerLocation: Toronto, Canada preferred.ResponsibilitiesConceive, plan, develop, and implement scientific research projects to advance scientific knowledge in business-relevant areasYou will publish papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals/conferencesSupervise research interns (typically PhD students from top research universities)Present research findings at conferences and participate in research collaborations with external research institutes and universitiesYou will communicate and promote the use of research findings throughout AutodeskConsult with product teams on the implementation of research findings into productsGenerate intellectual property such as patents and trade-secrets from research findingsYou will manage and coordinate projects as they move from research prototype to shipping products or servicesMinimum QualificationsPh.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other relevant disciplines, ideally on the topic of Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely-related area3-15 years experience of HCI research fundamentals, including experience designing and evaluating novel interfaces and technologiesDemonstrated experience working with AI technologies, and developing novel solutions using themHistory of publications in HCI or related fields (e.g., ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM IUI, IEEE VIS, AAAI, or similar)Learn new technologies and adapt to new situationsAbility to conduct quantitative and qualitative studies to evaluate concepts, designs, and systemsAbility to work with people from many different disciplines (design, development, etc.)A demonstrated track record of recognized research results in leading conferences and publication venues (e.g., ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM IUI, IEEE VIS, AAAI, or similar)#LI-JK3Learn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $119,900 and $206,800. Offers are based on the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
