The Research Project Assistant (RPA) performs a variety of duties of a knowledge based nature to assist the Investigator in the execution of research. The RPA provides support for research studies by completing duties such as conducting literature searches, compiling information, completing data entry and participating in analysis, formatting research presentations, and completing and updating web-based forms for research applications.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Conduct literature searches on various topics related to the program of study. The information is required to fulfill the mandate for the research program; it will be collected for members of the research program.
  • Create and maintain various systems for document retrieval that are easily searched, including project resources and relevant articles.
  • Research funding agencies and research groups and organizations so the project can have a map of other activities.
  • Assist staff with ethics applications, and recruitment and data collection of study participants for research projects.
  • Complete data entry and participates in the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Complete and update web-based funding application forms for various research projects.
  • Compile information, formats and designs relevant documents and reports for review by the team members and assists staff in report writing and proofreading documents.
  • Update website with new projects and on-going research activities.
  • Coordinate meetings and conferences and takes minutes when necessary.
  • Provide planning, and coordination support for meetings and special events, such as workshops, conferences and health fairs, and prepares related material for public communications.
What you bring
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. sciences, social sciences, healthcare, or communications).
  • Two (2) years of experience conducting research project work.
  • Experience conducting literature searches, participating in data entry and analysis, and report writing considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of library database searching methods.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to work in an intermediate Microsoft Office environment utilizing a wide variety of software.

  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Until 12/27/2024)

Salary Range: $47,064 - $61,771 per year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate\xe2\x80\x99s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
