Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Knowledge Exchange, this position will lead the evaluation and measurement support for the Medical Detox and Residential Addiction Treatment Expansion (MDRATE). This position will develop a provincial evaluation and measurement framework to ensure the consistent data is collected so the proposed measures can be reported on provincially and in alignment with the Enterprise-Wide Contract Management Strategy. An evaluation framework will provide the rationale for measures and how they will be used in reporting. Given general direction and scope, the incumbent plans, organizes and conducts major projects including setting goals and objectives, defining and managing projects to timelines and budgets. The position leads project related meetings, committees and contributes to strategic planning and systematic evaluation of AHS led and supported initiatives. The incumbent works collaboratively with key Addiction and Mental Health stakeholders, identifies clear and accomplishable projects and provides support in situations where needs, goals and priorities are present. The incumbent will provide a high standard of professionalism and demonstrate flexibility, initiative and responsiveness. The incumbent is required to have extensive experience with complex evaluations and effective coordination, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Description:

As a Research Officer II, you will be part of the Knowledge, Performance & Integrated Planning that provides support for evidence-informed decision making and accountability in the provincial portfolio of Addiction and Mental Health. The functions of the team include: planning, business analysis, data analysis and reporting, research, evaluation and knowledge exchange. Given general direction and scope, you will plan, organize and conduct major provincial projects including setting goals and objectives, defining and managing projects to timelines and budgets, and staffing and supervising junior researchers. You will work collaboratively with key Addiction and Mental Health stakeholders, identifying clear and accomplishable projects and provide support in situations where needs are ambiguous and where conflicting views, goals and priorities are present. Using a collaborative approach, you will plan, conduct, and manage evaluation and performance measurement provincial level projects. Typical steps in these projects include defining and negotiating project scope, reviewing relevant literature, conducting assessments of program evaluability, designing relevant measures and measurement procedures, defining appropriate IT requirements, developing appropriate project plans, conducting/coordinating evaluation research projects, conducting data analyses, report writing, developing implications and recommendations from the research and communicating research results. Using your writing techniques, you will assist in producing reports, papers and related products to inform a range of audiences and a wide variety of stakeholders. This position is expected to translate study results into effective oral and written communication materials.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master\'s degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college. Additional Required Qualifications:

A graduate degree in Health, Business, Policy or Social Sciences or equivalent education and experience satisfactory to the employer. A minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in applied research, evaluation, performance measures and analytics preferably related to addiction and/or mental health in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience in strategic and operational planning and a detailed knowledge of Alberta\'s Addiction and Mental Health services. Preferred Qualifications:
