. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Transplant Wellness Program Physician Lead (Medical Director).
This position is a very dynamic role, interacting with many Investigators / Health Care professionals on multiple projects and staff members. This position has a moderate to high level of stress. There is a substantial impact of error because of the quality standards expected, as mistakes would seriously affect the credibility and reputation of the University.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Research Program Management:
Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs)and execute plans in collaboration with the Medical Director
Responsible for working with the Medical Director to determine positions that would support the strategic goals of the Transplant Wellness Program (TWP)
Help with creation of job profiles, hiring, and onboarding of staff
Performs and engages staff in annual performance reviews
When required, performs disciplinary, including terminations, actions
Oversees the complete range of human resource management for operational staff
Oversee the financial administration of research program (paying invoices, sourcing vendors, etc.)
Preparation of presentations, knowledge translation (KT) materials
Education of patients, family and other health care professionals
Establish and monitor project schedules and report on progress
Identify risks, contingencies and alternatives for projects
Facilitate internal and stakeholder communications
Management of project operations
Provides technical support to Faculty, staff and students
Subject Management:
Conduct informed consent process, according to protocol specifications and GCP guidelines
Pre-screen subjects for eligibility requirements and document on screening log
Recruitment and enrolment of human subjects
Preparation and maintenance and reporting of Adverse and Serious adverse event reports
Educate subject regarding protocol requirements
Ensure compliance through education, support and monitoring progress
Document and follow study drop-outs and withdrawals
Data collection
Adverse Event Issues:
Observe, query, and document medical events (adverse events, local and non-local)
Present Principal Investigator with relevant information for determination of seriousness, causality, and intervention
Act on Principal Investigators recommendation for adverse event intervention (e.g. stop research drug/product, call subject, retest, treat)
Maintain follow up to determine resolution of adverse event
Report serious adverse events to Sponsor and the CHREB within required timelines Record adverse events and relevant information on source document, CRF, and sponsor-specific forms
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in a related field required, Masters degree an asset
Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation is an asset
Intermediate to advanced REDCap skills
Minimum 2 years in a research position working with Investigator driven trials
A combination of education and experience will be considered
Demonstrated experience effectively managing projects/priorities with competing deadlines
Applied experience with the inform consent process, screening, and conducting study visits according to protocol specifications
Thorough understanding of International Conference on Harmonization (ICH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines and privacy requirements. Working knowledge of Alberta's Health Information Act (HIA) and Privacy Act
Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, experience with eCRF systems
Ability to work independently and interdependently within a team
Ability to solve complex problems
Experience with SOP development and maintenance
Knowledge of the University of Calgary business and research systems (PeopleSoft, eFIN, IRISS etc.) required
