As a Research and Knowledge Translation Advisor in the Office of Learning, Leading, Sharing, you'll do just that. Working closely with the Manager and Senior Manager, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a new vision for WorkSafeBC research grants program, environmental scanning, partnerships with research and other agencies, and other departmental initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, Office of Learning, Leading, Sharing the Research and Knowledge Translation Advisor is responsible for research intelligence functions.

You will work with internal and external partners, and researchers to ensure WorkSafeBC has the best evidence to inform corporate strategies and initiatives, design plans and products to share findings of research and measure the impact of our efforts.

This is a hybrid role that will primarily work from home with some attendance at our Richmond office.

What you'll do

As a research & knowledge translation advisor you will:

  • Assist the Manager with administering the research grants program and researching intelligence functions.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders to identify research priorities, questions and design projects to address organizational needs.
  • Conduct research and interpret data, develop and evaluate options and implications and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior divisional leaders to operationalize the outcomes of research and provide assurance to the enterprise leadership team on outcomes of funded projects.
  • Use technology and analytical tools to develop, collect and track metrics and impact measurements and analyze data to assess ongoing impact of the research grants program and other portfolio initiatives
  • Participate in the formulating of departmental plans and implementing plan initiatives to achieve outcomes

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external clients, jurisdictional partners and researchers.
  • Gather and analyze information, anticipate and recognize risks and opportunities, develop options and solutions, and make appropriate decisions and recommendations to managers
  • Promote a client-centred, service-oriented approach to supporting internal and external clients
  • Excel in a fast paced, dynamically changing work environment
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of knowledge translation and information sharing best practices, occupational health and safety, and other areas relevant to WorkSafeBC's mandate
Your experience and educational background:
  • A graduate degree in epidemiology, public policy, occupational hygiene, or library science
  • A minimum of three years of real-time experience working with statistical and epidemiological analysis and research methods
  • We'll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
