UHN is a caring, creative place where amazing people are amazing the world.Position SummaryUniversity Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Research Institutional Authorization (IA) Flow Coordinator in the Clinical Research Support Systems department.The Clinical Research Support Systems (CRSS) department facilitates the navigation of the research approval process at UHN and assists researchers with use and development of clinical research tools such as the Coordinated Approval Process for Clinical Research (CAPCR), the Clinical Research Record (CRR), and the Research Ethics Board of Record process. The UHN CAPCR system is a web-based tool utilized for Institutional Authorization (IA), which involves the review and approval from multiple departments across the clinical and research environments at UHN. The CAPCR system guides researchers to obtain all the approvals required to conduct research involving humans at the University Health Network.As an integral member of the Research and CRSS teams, the Research Institutional Authorization (IA) Flow Coordinator will report to the Manager, CRSS.Duties

  • The Flow Coordinator will play a key role in the successful human research review and approval process and the timely granting of complex Institutional Authorizations for human research proposals in CAPCR.
  • The Flow Coordinator will work with multiple stakeholders, including research teams, CRSS, Clinical Trial Agreements team, the REB and others in monitoring the timely and efficient flow of Institutional Authorization for Investigators
  • Monitoring the workflow of all applications, tactfully navigating complex applications, providing education and end user support, developing guidance documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), tracking performance metrics, and identifying areas for improved efficiencies and quality of reviews, and implementing solutions.
  • The Research IA Flow Coordinator is also responsible for providing overall support to the study activation processes and both research staff and clinical reviewers at UHN.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science-related discipline. Science or Nursing degree preferred. Master\'s degree preferred.
  • At minimum 3 years practical and related experience, 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 practical and related experience preferred
  • Previous on-the job computer/word-processing, database and spreadsheet software experience, in a Microsoft Office environment, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and internet searches
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to navigate through complex institutional processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Comprehensive knowledge of organizational/office practices, procedures and standards
  • Experience working in a health care, scientific or research environment
