University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care. Research across UHN's seven research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.
The Research Grants Team processes grant funding applications and resulting agreements by reviewing them for compliance with UHN policies and strategic initiatives and funders guidelines, and provides institutional approval to the same for submission to national and international bodies, including Canadian and Foreign Governments, Charities, Industry Partners and Foundations.
The Grant Officer is responsible for coordinating and/or conducting the review and submission processes for a variety of external grant funding programs, and for coordinating and processing the post-award requirements of external grants held by UHN Investigators. As part of the review process the incumbent confirms eligibility of the Institution and Investigator and identifies, makes recommendations and escalates requirements pertaining to compliance with funder and Institutional requirements. Working closely with UHN Research Institutes, Research Financial Services (RFS) and other Research Solutions & Services (RSS) Departments, Research Finance and Research Legal, the incumbent acts as a liaison between UHN Investigators and funding agencies, collaborators, research facilitators and administrators.
