As a Research and Development Analyst, you will work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Community Strategies division, including the Data Strategies team & the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) by conducting, interpreting, and presenting research and analysis findings. Primary duties include:
Summarize and interpret analytical information and present findings.
Conduct analyses on existing programs, policies, performance and resource utilization.
Document future growth plans and link these plans to future fire operations requirements by analyzing existing fire coverage and forecasting concepts.
Evaluate long and short-term emergency response needs/priorities through analyzing and identifying the impact of demographics, geography, traffic, and economic and social/political trends.
Compile, design and prepare major presentations for City Council meetings, budget sessions and public presentations.
Represent the Data Strategies team and exchange valuable information by participating in The City of Calgary\xe2\x80\x99s corporate initiatives.
Qualifications
A completed 2 year diploma in Economics, Social Sciences or a related field and at least 5 years of analytical research experience is required.
Experience using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), electronic case management and risk assessment is required.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
In depth experience with producing and changing reports using Power BI and/or Systems Applications and Products (SAP) Business Objects will be considered an asset.
Well-developed communication and organizational skills
