Your opportunity:

Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Coordinator will support research activities on the topics of Indigenous health research with a focus on harm reduction, mental health, sexually transmitted blood borne infections, health services, intervention research, and Indigenous determinants of health. As a Research Coordinator, you will participate with the research team in the development of research protocols including quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods; survey design; apply scientific principles to undertake literature reviews; provide guidance to research assistants and community partners on the implementation of research activities from the recruitment and screening of research participants to data collection, analysis and sharing; manage study documents; and participate with the research team in the creation of study reports, publications, and presentations. You will also manage communication with research team members, partners, and stakeholders, by serving as the point of contact for research projects; monitor multiple research studies to ensure quality and achievement of expected timelines and deliverables; and assist with other aspects of study management. Your strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills will be critical to your success in this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Scheduling day-to-day project activities and maintaining project records
  • Directing the activities of casual staff (eg. Research assistants)
  • Tracking and monitoring research activities
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
  • Implementing and executingqualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Overseeing the data collection and analysis processes
  • Formatting research results to be presentable and easily comprehensible
  • Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master\'s degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or similar, is required
  • Minimum of 3-years of related experience in coordinating large-scale research studies
  • Experience working directly with research participants and with community agencies in the conduct of community-based research
  • Experience coordinating research projects and implementing qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience completing Research Ethics Board (REB) applications and editing content for grant applications
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC platforms (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Access)
  • Demonstrated experience fostering positive relationships with multiple groups including internal and external stakeholders and community partners
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC platforms (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Access)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills (oral and written) with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints, workload pressures; managing conflicting priorities and deadlines despite regular interruptions
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Experience writing scientific peer-reviewed publications or presenting study findings at conferences and in other academic and public settings would be an asset
  • Experience conducting research with racialized communities would be an asset
