The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta with over 250 academic faculty members and over 400 trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and residents).The Department of Medicine's core mission is to undertake outstanding education, research and high-quality clinical care to provide the best possible health outcomes for Albertans. Position Summary




The Research Coordinator is responsible for assisting and supporting the Director, the Principal Investigators and the Co-Investigators in the overall operations and management of all current and upcoming pharmaceutical clinical trials and investigator-initiated research studies within the Division of Pulmonary Medicine.


This position works as a contributing study team member with other research coordinators, physicians, lab personnel, and stakeholders of the research.

Duties



Preparation of pre-study documentation, preparation of application for Health Research Ethics Board approval, and preparation of patient information and informed consent sheets Patient screening, interviewing and recruitment, obtaining patient informed consent, and completing patient enrolment Conducting study visits and collection of study data, completing and ensuring quality of case report forms, and maintaining source documents Maintaining and dispensing drug supplies Ensuring and maintaining site quality Collection, handling, and shipping of laboratory specimens Documentation of adverse events and notification of Principal Investigator and other authorities as required Ongoing Health Research Ethics Board interaction and communication

Minimum Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in a health science, biological sciences, or related research field.

Preferred Qualifications



Completion of GCP/ICH training program Minimum three years clinical experience as a Research Coordinator Previous patient education experience
