The Canadian Sarcoma Research and Clinical Collaboration (CanSaRCC) is a group of sarcoma care providers across Canada committed to form a multicenter collaborative team to generate and maintain a national database to conduct clinical and translational sarcoma research of high quality, of which the sarcoma team in Saskatchewan is an active participant and aims to make meaningful contributions. Through CanSaRCC collaboration, our study aims to examine the variabilities of clinical practice patterns, particularly locoregional treatment patterns, and identify factors that could be associated with differences in clinical outcomes in patients with ES and other URCS amongst different institutions across Canada.
This role involves assisting with regulatory and organizational applications, recruiting study participants, conducting chart reviews, collecting and managing research data, coordinating project meetings, and serving as a liaison with local and national collaborators. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
Nature of Work:
This position is funded by the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and is dedicated to supporting the successful execution of the associated research project, "Patterns of Locoregional Treatment and Clinical Outcomes in Pediatric and Adult Patients with Ewing Sarcoma and Other Undifferentiated Round Blue Cell Sarcomas - A Canadian Multicenter Retrospective CanSaRCC Study". The Research Coordinator/ Manager will report directly to the Principal Applicant and work closely with him to carry out key project activities, including data collection, coordination, and communication with collaborators.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Assisting in regulatory and organizational research applications
Recruiting and consenting patients
Conducting chart reviews from various sources of electronic health records and paper charts.
Collecting and managing data
Coordinating project meetings
Serving as a liaison between local and national collaborators
Education:
A level of education equivalent to a Master's degree in a related health discipline from a recognized program. A combination of education and experience may be considered (Select applicants with Bachelor's degree and experience in healthcare research may be considered).
Experience:
Preferred candidates have some or all of the following competencies or experience:
Experience and training in the conduct of clinical research or research in the healthcare setting.
Demonstrated experience with REB submissions and Operational Approval requests.
Proficiency in reviewing and extracting health data from Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
Familiarity with secure data handling practices and adherence to privacy/confidentiality protocols.
Experience using REDCap or another research data management software.
Working knowledge of cancer-related terminology and clinical documentation standards.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, physicians, administrative staff, regulatory personnel, patients, potential research participants, and referral sources.
