The expected pay for this position is $2,133.33/month at 0.40FTE
We are seeking a Research Associate in the field of Rock Mechanics in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. This is a part-time position at 0.40FTE, term position.
The duties of this position will be:
Oversee and conduct research related to rock mechanics testing, including compressibility and permeability testing of low-permeability rock samples.
Contribute to safety and training in the sample preparation and rock mechanics testing facilities.
Collaborate and provide research support to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows using the triaxial testing system.
Document workflow and prepare technical reports and journal manuscripts from research performed.
Attend weekly/monthly meetings with other team members to discuss technical issues, schedule and deliverables.
The following are required:
PhD in rock mechanics.
Over seven years of specialized research experience in hydraulic fracturing design, numerical simulation, and related geomechanical processes.
Proven hands-on expertise in designing, constructing, and refining advanced laboratory apparatus for rock mechanics and hydraulic fracturing experiments.
Deep technical knowledge of petroleum geomechanics, reservoir mechanics, fluid mechanics, and continuum mechanics, supported by strong skills in data analysis and integration.
Strong foundation in mathematical analysis and analytical modeling, including the development of models to investigate stress shadow effects in multistage hydraulic fracturing.
Excellent communication skills, demonstrated through extensive experience as a laboratory instructor and teaching assistant, as well as multiple presentations at international conferences and seminars.
Experienced in preparing competitive research proposals and grant applications for major funding agencies, and actively engaged in collaborative research with industry partners.
The position requires the ability to write and present technical materials and reports, with high-level skills in reviewing data. The successful candidate must be able to compile literature data and analyze field and experimental data with a high level of proficiency.
