Working for the Department of Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Alberta provides undergraduate and postgraduate training in emergency medicine, acute care, and ambulatory care. In an acute care setting, we provide opportunities in bedside research, health outcomes research, and scholarly pursuit in medical education.
We offer a specialist training program in Emergency Medicine accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We also train residents in the Emergency Medicine Certification program of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Position Summary
The Department of Emergency Medicine is looking for a Research Associate. This person will work with the Principal Investigator on a research program focused on equity in emergency care, and will also contribute to the team's research and educational activities.The research program contains a portfolio of competitively funded provincial projects utilizing mixed methods to examine inequity in health care and health care access. Topics of study relate to Indigenous patients' emergency care, opioid use disorder treatment, COVID-19 disruptions to healthcare, and anti-racist intervention research. The Research Associate will lead research activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator as well as provide managerial leadership to the research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering strong relationships and collaboration across internal and external disciplines and partners.
