In accordance with the , this position has a comprehensive and an annual salary range of $76,135 - $85,660. This position has an initial appointment of 3 year.
Location - This role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Research Associate leads the evaluation and knowledge translation of evidence-based educational interventions that promote mental health literacy across educational, community, and public sector systems. Reporting to Dr. Yifeng Wei within the Department of Psychiatry, the research associate plays a key role in building sustainable and evidence-informed programs that target K-12 children, adolescents, and youth, as well as related stakeholders such as educators, post-secondary institutions, parents, caregivers, sport and recreation organizations, and public servants. This position operates within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment and contributes directly to improving population-level mental health outcomes by increasing knowledge, reducing stigma, and encouraging early help-seeking.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an evaluation expert in mental health literacy within Dr. Wei's team.
  • Design and implement quantitative research studies, including experimental, quasi-experimental,
and observational designs. * Conduct advanced statistical analyses using software such as R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python
(e.g., regression modelling, multilevel modelling, structural equation modelling, survival analysis,
factor analysis, etc.). * Manage large and complex datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Develop and apply appropriate statistical methods to answer research questions and test
hypotheses. * Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design data analysis plans and interpret statistical findings.
  • Prepare technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and presentations that clearly
communicate analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Provide statistical consultation and support to research partners, students, and project collaborators.
  • Contribute to grant writing by developing methodological and data analysis sections.
  • Champion the integration of evidence-based
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • A PhD degree or equivalent in education, psychology, social work, public health, or a related
discipline. * Minimum 10 years of experience in research and evaluation in child and youth mental health,
education systems, or health literacy program. * Deep knowledge of advanced statistical methodologies and analysis.
  • Rich experience in leading data collection, performing complex statistical analyses, interpreting
findings, and translating results into actionable insights to inform programs, policies, and publications
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong proficiency in at least one major statistical software package (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or
Python). * Proven ability to interpret and communicate complex statistical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with data management, cleaning, and documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
