This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $59,822 - $74,785. This position has an initial appointment of one year.
Location - This role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton.
Urban Environment Observatory is a laboratory in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences engaged in multiple projects funded by Canadian tri-council research agencies, ranging from bio-products, Indigenous and human rights issues, housing and climate change.
The position is responsible for planning for the day-to-day operations of research project(s) or program(s), funded by multiple Canadian tri-councils, with a focus on the impacts and awareness of bioproducts in the population and plastic pollution and water quality.

Planning research activities and providing research design for a project and/or program.
Determining the most appropriate methodology in carrying out identified research goals.
Designing experiments, data collection protocols, and standards.
Conducting advanced analysis of research results.
Overseeing and/or conducting data collection activities.
Preparing proposals for new research activities, including assisting in the preparation of research grant applications and contract proposals.
Participating in the writing of research papers, the preparation of presentations and publications.
Guiding and coaching students and/or post-doctoral fellows.
Assisting with related administrative duties.
PhD in social or natural sciences with a preferred focus on water quality and monitoring.
The applicant's experience and skills should include:
+ 4/5 years of postdoctoral experience
+ A demonstrated track record in research grant management;
+ A demonstrated track record in grant securement and publications;
+ Excellent working knowledge of research methodology, including statistical modelling, remote sensing algorithms, Python, R, machine learning, and programming skills;
+ Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; and,
+ Excellent leadership within a team environment.
