In accordance with the , this position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our and annual salary range of $58,210 to $80,050. This position has an approximate appointment end date of March 31, 2025.

Location: Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

Department/Faculty Summary

Position Summary

We are seeking applications for a full-time Research Associate position for initially two years. The primary purpose of this position is to carry out experimental work in the King-Jones laboratory to investigate the relationships between iron homeostasis and ecdysone biosynthesis in Drosophila. The successful candidate will be conducting experiments that require the latest molecular and genetic techniques, including Cut & Tag, TurboID, Co-IP, EMSA, FLP-FRT, CRISPR-Cas9, etc. Applicants must have experience with Drosophila genetics, CRISPR/Cas9, transgenics, immunoprecipitation, embryo injections, genomic data analysis and proteomics.

Duties

  • Research design, methodology determination, analysis, and other activities
  • All phases of data collection and analysis
  • Preparation of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Regular communication and collaboration with the Principal Investigator, collaborators at other universities and research institutes
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genetics)
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience
  • Experience in performing experiments using Drosophila genetics
  • Proven publication track record
  • Excellent ability to write drafts of articles for publication
  • At least 3 first-authored peer-reviewed publications, but a higher publication record will be viewed favorably
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with the endocrinology of Drosophila
  • Experience in Cut & Tag and TurboID
  • Experience in Genomics and Proteomics
  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 or Cas13
  • Experience with transgenesis
