Position Overview

The Dean\'s Office in Werklund School of Education is currently seeking a Recurring Part-time Research Associate .

The Research Associate will work with partners and stakeholders in academic integrity and will be part of a research team within the Werklund School of Education, as well as members research teams from partner universities. The research associate will pursue independent and collaborative research activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator and will be expected to support the publishing of the research findings in well-regarded journals in the area of expertise. This position will act as a resource to staff, students, and others, regarding the research in academic integrity.

As a member of team, Reasearch Associate reports to Associate Professor, Dean\'s Office Eduaction.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for conducting literature searches and reviews, sourcing new and relevant findings to further enhance the research
  • Recommend and pursue independent research and team research initiatives, with oversight of the PI, to further the research
  • Write and present on research findings to the PI and may be called on to present findings scholarly conferences and other professional meetings
  • Collection of data and synthesis of information into manuscripts and documents, supporting the publication of findings in well-regarded journals
  • Pursue and draft grant applications in support of the research, with oversight of the PI
  • Provide editing, proofreading, and copy editing as needed
  • Coordination of research meetings and interviews, including participating in question development and note taking
  • Work with external research partners in the refining of results, models, frameworks, and initiatives informed by the research
  • Produce monthly reports on behalf of the PI, working closely and collaboratively with the research team
  • Deal effectively with complex issues using judgement and initiating resolutions
  • Oversee and manage the project timelines and deadlines and competing interests requiring long-term planning and strategies
  • Refine and monitor project outcomes and closeout of projects
  • Operate at times with little supervision
  • May manage projects and provide advice and mentorship to others
  • Design, implement, monitor, and consult with stakeholders on projects and programs
  • Assist in leading project plans from conception to completion
  • Act as primary liaison between research team, national and international collaborators
  • Represent research team at national and international meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Conduct qualitative research involving data collection and qualitative data analysis, including specialized methodologies such as hermeneutic or narrative approaches
  • May have moderate budget management responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue national and international research and development opportunities
  • Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the PI and research collaborators
  • Process expenses and invoices for the PI and research project
  • Organize venues and catering for special events
  • Ensure all documentation is organized and filed appropriately
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Master\'s Degree in education or other related discipline
  • A minimum of two (2) years of research experience is required
  • Advanced skills in qualitative research are required. Experience conducting interviews, focus groups and triangulation of multiple data sources is required
  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the proven ability to work cooperatively in a research team
  • Ability to lead, direct and mentor others including undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, and research assistants
  • Must have a strong record of publications, writing, and contributions to research
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity
  • Proven ability to work independently, in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and effectively work with stakeholders, dealing with tact and diplomacy in all situations
  • High level of understanding and capability in research documentation and administrative practices
  • Ability to retain knowledge of a variety of informational resources and requirements
  • Intermediate to expert user of the technical systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, referencing software (e.g., Mendeley) and web navigation
  • Understanding of University environment would be an asset
