Hiring Unit:
Department of Chemistry
Position Summary:

  • Synthesis of molecular building blocks and organic electronic materials, including conjugated molecules, polymers and covalent organic frameworks.
  • Structural and optoelectronic characterization of the synthesized materials via spectroscopic, diffraction and electrochemical techniques.
  • Modelling of organic materials using standard computational tools (Gaussian, Materials Studio, VASP).
  • Assisting the PI in daily management of the lab, including troubleshooting/maintenance of the instrumentation, equipment/chemicals acquisition, training of research (undergraduate and graduate) students in experimental and computational techniques and instrumental analysis.
  • Participation in external collaborations with industrial partners.
  • Preparing progress reports and manuscripts of research articles.
Qualifications:
  • Strong skills in organic synthesis of pi-conjugated molecules and polymers.
  • Experience in synthesis and characterization of Covalent Organic Frameworks.
  • Experience in computational modelling (DFT), optical spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and diffraction analysis.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment sufficient for basic troubleshooting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork spirit and strong interpersonal skills.
Experience and Education:
  • PhD in Chemistry and a minimum of 5 years of experience in research on organic electronic materials
