Department of Chemistry (Professor Parisa Ariya)

Position Summary:

The Ariya Lab is looking for an experienced researcher to operate and coach our staff on our array of mass specs and lasers. You will also get to conduct novel research including the development of groundbreaking measurement techniques with application in medicine, atmospheric chemistry, materials science, climate

change, sustainable technology, and air pollution.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain and operate a variety of organic and inorganic analytical instrumentation, including Q-ToF-MS/MS, QQQ-GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, QQQ-ICO-MS/MS, Long-path FTIR and other laser spectroscopic instrumentation.
  • Develop SOPs and other best practices. Train and coach students and other staff on the use of instrumentation.
  • Develop novel methods and techniques for the analysis of particulates and other material in environmental, medical, and physical sciences, including but not limited to new instrument development.
  • Write publications, abstracts, grant applications and patents as necessary. Review written material by other members of the lab.
  • Participate in and contribute to the scientific conversation.
Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Doctorate and preferably Post-Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry. Prior industry experience leading the development and validation of novel measurement techniques and technologies using mass spectrometry and laser spectroscopy is required. Hands-on experience in

chromatography, mass spectrometry, laser spectroscopy, and with environmental and biological.

Experience and education:
  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry
  • Experience in industry, including team leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in both hardware and software development environments, including artificial intelligence is preferred.

Hourly Salary: $31.20

Hours per Week: 28 (Part time)
