As a Research Associate, you will contribute to the research and academic development of the Family Medicine Education Research Group (FMER) at McGill University. You will work in collaboration with Dr. Keith Todd on the Outcomes of Training project, commissioned by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and released in 2022. As part of a continuous cycle of educational quality improvement, you will contribute to Family Medicine Postgraduate curriculum mapping, review, and implementation activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development and implementation of the research agenda in collaboration with the supervisor and other researchers.
Conduct feasibility, impact, risk, and responsible approach assessments of implementation activities.
Prepare complete documentation of research activities for reference purposes, including following applicable data management protocols.
Analyze, interpret, and document research findings for review.
Use curriculum mapping processes and tools, including mapping software.
Compare actual and expected results and suggest solutions to correct deviations.
Evaluate existing research or modeling techniques and recommend improvements to ensure quality and productivity.
Maintain computer databases of research data.
Contribute to manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and may assist in grant writing.
Present research findings at internal meetings and conferences.
Engage in the dissemination of research results to relevant research stakeholders in appropriate forms.
Conduct individual and/or collaborative research to the highest ethical standards in a variety of settings.
Carry out any administrative and management work associated with the program of research.
Participate in internal/external networks for the exchange of information and to form relationships for future research collaboration.
Supervise and provide day-to-day advice, support, mentoring, and assistance to research graduates, students, and other junior members associated with your research group, center, or unit.
Qualifications:
A PhD in Family Medicine, Health Sciences Education, or a related field.
Expertise in Postgraduate Medical Education with an emphasis on primary care education and knowledge of Canadian Postgraduate Medical Education.
Proven scientific writing skills through peer-reviewed publications.
Creative thinking and ability to generate new ideas and build upon existing ones with integrity.
Ability to collect accurate and reproducible data.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and mentoring skills.
Excellent project and time management skills with leadership qualities.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of research ethics, policies, and procedures relevant to the role.
Ability to manage projects and resources.
Strong commitment to ongoing research and publications.
