Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Scientific Director, the Research Associate will lead and carry-out complex research activities related to various Cancer Strategic Clinical Network projects, actively engaging with stakeholders to ensure research relevance and impact. With expertise in both research and evaluation, and preferably also in implementation science, they will develop comprehensive research and evaluation frameworks for these projects, promoting enhanced scientific rigour and evidence-based practice. Integral to this role is the development and execution of research and evaluation protocols, planning for data analysis, and creating effective data collection tools. The Research Associate will also work with evidence and data, conducting robust analyses, interpreting results and converting these into knowledge translation products. They will develop and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts and present detailed research and evaluation outcomes to a range of audiences in internal meetings, scientific conferences, and related settings, both within and outside the organization. Navigating the multifaced world of research and evaluation, they will multitask across various projects, showcasing adaptability and depth in their expertise. This role, involving a myriad of responsibilities and opportunities for impact, is a 1-year temporary full-time commitment. As the Cancer SCN team is provincial, this position may require some travel across Alberta.

Required Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Epidemiology/Public Health, Community Health Sciences, Nursing or a related field. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years in research and evaluation, including project design and implementation. Proven experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Familiarity with common research software such as SPSS and NVivo Proven skills in translating finings into actionable insights or recommendations. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expertise in implementation science. Prior experience in health research and evaluation, with a focus on cancer care Familiarity with the healthcare environment, preferably in Alberta. Prior experience or contributions in peer-reviewed publications. Demonstrated leadership abilities, particularly in guiding junior researchers or team members. Experience in grant writing or funding proposal development.
