This is a part-time position of about 6 hours a week.

Job Summary
This position assists with research activities and infrastructure maintenance within the Personality and Geographical Ambiance (PANGEA) Lab in the Department of Psychology at UBC. This position performs technical tasks of moderately complex where on-the-job training is provided. The candidate will assist the principal investigator and the research team.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Principal Investigator and research team members in completing the described tasks.
Work Performed
Ensures that research equipment is consistently well-maintained and fully functional (e.g., software updates etc.).
Serves as a point-of-contact for lab members with technical questions.
Extensive literature research of published sources (e.g., articles online or in the library) as well as grey literature (e.g., preprints, newsletters, government reports, etc.).
Analyze, interpret, and communicate literature review results and quality by performing tasks such as examining research methods and statistical tests performed in the work, synthesizing literature, and identifying gaps.
Organizes materials needed for the literature review (e.g., purchasing books on the research topic).
Analyze, interpret, and communicate interview results by performing and presenting qualitative data analysis (e.g., identifying common themes, coding themes, etc.).
Assisting in the preparation of materials (e.g., points of interest in the interview) by following the principal investigator's instructions.
Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Works within well-defined guidelines and procedures, but exercises judgment in establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion; new or unusual problems are referred to supervisor. Errors may harm the lab's reputation and slow down productivity in the lab.
Supervision Received
Supervised by the principal investigator or designate who provides instruction and guidance. All text produced by the employee will be reviewed by the Principal Investigator.
Supervision Given
None but may explain work sequences to others.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate university degree in Psychology.
Experience working in a research setting, especially in social and environmental psychology.
Completion of courses in Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology.
Knowledge of computer hardware and familiarity with central analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, Excel, Stata)
Experience with navigating databases (e.g., OSF, Google Scholar, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong, interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to follow directions, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
