The Position:
Reporting to the Director, Research, the Research Assistant will assist with research-related activities focusing on evaluating the impact of Abilities Centre programs and services. The successful candidate will support the research team in systematically evaluating Abilities Centre initiatives in the areas of sport and recreation, employment, skills development, therapeutic recreation, and health and wellness. They will also support the continuous development of internal practices, including the integration of lived experience and evidence-based knowledge, and the building of a robust program of research. The Research Assistant will be a highly valued member of the Research team.
What You'll Do:
Support.
You will support the implementation and continuous improvement of tools and processes for research and program evaluation. You will conduct data collection for internal programs and services.
Analyze.
You will analyze and organize data for internal programs and services. You will assist with the preparation of internal and partner reports. You will assist with the preparation of research for publication and dissemination.
Customer Service.
You will ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics of prospect research. You will cultivate a member-centred environment through exceptional customer service. You will establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners. You will attend staff meetings as required. You will complete other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
You have Post-Secondary Education in Health; Life Sciences; Kinesiology; Adapted Physical Education/Activity; Disability Studies or Social Science; or a relevant field, which is required.
It is preferred you have a completed Bachelor's degree or diploma.
TCPS 2: CORE
certification is required but can be completed once starting the position.
Professional Skills.
You have experience with theoretical and practical research. You understand research ethics. You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products. You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You can manage multiple demands through well-developed organization and time management skills, and work independently without close supervision. You have a demonstrated record of initiative, problem-solving, adaptability and accountability. You can foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment. You have knowledge of accessibility and accommodation issues which is an asset. You have well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills and can establish rapport with people of diverse backgrounds. You are willing to contribute to a work environment that values and encourages teamwork and empowerment.

current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector which is required.
