Job summary
The Research Assistant will support development on the SEAL application, primarily coding sections of the user interface. Code will be written in Python and will follow coding and archiving protocols established within the software development team. The incumbent will also be required to present progress to research sponsors and to others in the group.
Organizational Status
Reports to Dr. Mariana Carrasco Teja and Dr. Soheil Akbari as part of the SEAL software development team.
Work Performed
Supports SEAL software development team by coding on the SEAL application as it relates to well integrity and cementing. Programming will be written in Python, accurately following established group coding and archiving protocols. Coding will primarily support the user interface, but is also inclusive of other areas on the application.
Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, such as research group members and research sponsors, by interfacing and communicating on project updates and research.
Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
Consequence of Error/Judgment
The Research Assistant will perform work as discussed with the supervisors while exercising judgment in establishing priorities and carrying out tasks to completion. New or unusual problems are discussed with the supervisor.
Supervision Received
The research assistant works under direct supervision in accordance with detailed oral or written instructions. The research assistant receives instructions during orientation and on subsequent new assignments or changes in procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or science
Application specific knowledge, related to well integrity/cementing
Knowledge and experience in Python coding and front-end software development
Ability to communicate in a clear, attentive, and polite manner.
Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
