Job Summary
The University of British Columbia?s Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) unit addresses the need for clinical and economic research, and education in pharmaceutical outcomes assessment. The CORE team is a multidisciplinary group of researchers with expertise in clinical pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, health economics, health services research, program evaluation and health promotion research.

The
Lynd Lab within CORE is seeking a Research Assistant to provide research support to a variety of ongoing research projects in the health economics of precision medicine and pharmaceutical innovation.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Larry Lynd.

Work Performed


  • Perform literature searches relevant to ongoing research projects

  • Assist with data entry, extraction, and management

  • Assist in survey design and implementation

  • Assist in the development of economic models

  • Assist in the preparation of knowledge translation and communication materials, including manuscripts, reports, and presentations

  • Other duties as required


Consequence of Error/Judgement
All work performed by the Research Assistant will be reviewed by the PI or other senior research staff and fellows. Inappropriate judgment or error on the part of the Research Assistant may result in wasted time and resources. Inadequate attention to detail and poor work ethic will reflect poorly on the research team and may impact the sustainability of the Lynd research group.

Supervision Received
Works under the general guidance of Dr. Larry Lynd, and designated senior research associates and fellows. Works directly with other research staff and students.

Supervision Given
None.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one?s own.

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one?s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree is preferred.

  • Experience with literature searches and data management is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required as the Research Assistant will be working with various personnel at CORE.

  • Knowledge and experience working with UBC?s policies and practices preferred.


Skills:

  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint effectively.

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment, exercising sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, multitasking and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive and/or confidential matters.

  • Effective oral and written communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Coursework in and/or experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods is an asset.
