Research Assistant I Ophthalmology Research

Job Description
The Ophthalmology Research is currently looking for a Research Assistant I. This position provides organization and administrative support to research projects at an intermediate level. Tasks may include collecting and recording data, processing of data, basic laboratory procedures and updating standard operating procedures for research.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducting literature searches; retrieve articles from library
- Preparing routine media, solutions and reagents
- Performing animal experiments on laboratory mice
- Performing histology processing, sectioning, staining with both animal and human tissues
- Imaging experimental samples with Spectralis device, photoacoustics tomography, hyperspectral microscopy and confocal microscopy.
- Updating standard operating procedures
- Presenting results to lab members and collaborators
- Undergraduate Degree or 1 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience
- Basic computer skills, particularly database, spreadsheet and word processing
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical and scientific terminology
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to learn new skills
- Experience with wet bench research
- Experience with rodent handling
- Experience with rodent surgeries
