The Research Assistant supports the day-to-day activities of large cohort studies within the Division of Orthopedic Surgery. This includes recruiting participants, assisting with data collection, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with study protocols. The role is essential to support research goals and ensure smooth execution of study tasks under the direction of the Research Team Lead and Principal Investigator. This is an in-person role involving direct patient interaction.
Rate of Pay:
$25.25 - $31.56
Hours of Work:
Full time, 37.5 hours per week

1 year, with potential for renewal
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Participant recruitment and communication
Approach and recruit eligible participants in hospital and/or clinic settingsProvide clear information about study purpose and obtain informed consent
Schedule follow-up visits and maintain regular contact with participants
Document screening and recruitment
Data Entry and Study Documentation
Ensure completeness and accuracy of all CRFs and source documentation
Assist in maintaining regulatory binders and study logs
Track patient progress and follow-up timelines
Administrative and Research Support
Assist in preparing submissions to REB (e.g., amendments, renewals),
Help track study approvals and ensure documents are up to date
Communicate regularly with the study team, including surgeons, clinic staff, and external sites
Assist with scheduling study meetings, taking minutes, and sharing updates

Qualifications
------------------
Education required, Undergraduate Degree
6-12 months of previous experience in clinical research setting or working on clinical research studies preferred;
experience recruiting participants, conducting surveys and interviews and working on various aspects of clinical research studies in a hospital setting while applying the principles of GCP.
Certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), TCPS2, CCRP and/or ACRP preferred.
Experience with REDCap database, Microsoft Office, and Medical
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, time management skills and communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
