PURPOSE
The Canadian Biomarker Integration Network for Depression (CAN-BIND) is a national research network led by Dr. Benicio Frey with a goal of identifying biomarkers of treatment response in major depressive disorder. We are currently seeking a Research Assistant at the St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton West 5th site to assist with recruitment and screening of participants for several ongoing clinical studies. The ideal candidate will have a University degree in a related field, experience with recruitment of research participants, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Collaborates with PI and multidisciplinary research team to recruit and assess study participants
Assist with recruitment and screening of participants for ongoing research studies
Conduct preliminary eligibility assessments/screenings through phone interviews
Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant databases and recruitment logs
Collaborate with research coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to facilitate smooth participant enrollment
Provide participants with study information and ensure informed consent processes are followed
Build rapport and maintain respectful, empathetic interactions with potential participants, many of whom may be experiencing ongoing mental health challenges
Support the creation and distribution of recruitment materials (e.g., advertisements, online postings, community outreach)
Experience with social media platforms (Facebook/Instagram) at a minimum of intermediate knowledge and experience
Previous experience with clinical trial recruitment is an asset
Previous experience with Canva is also an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and familiarity with research databases (e.g., REDCap).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in human research.
Minimum Requirements
Related College Diploma or University degree
Awareness of ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines; Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans; Standard Operating Procedures for Clinical Research.
Experience working with clients
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desire to acquire new knowledge and skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent computer skills
Experience utilizing social media platforms
Time management and scheduling skills
Attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of work
