Position Summary
Tasks :
For the project "Documentation Centre for Research on Missing Children and Unmarked Graves and Burial Sites Associated with Indian Residential Schools," the research assistant will undertake translations of archival documents. This translation work will include:

  • Organizing documents;
  • Leading the necessary research and taking up opportunities to learn about the residential school site(s) to which the documents pertain, and about the Indian Residential School system;
  • Reporting to the Principal investigator and the rest of the translation team regularly and revising translations as needed;
  • Interacting with the client as needed.
  • Please note that this project deals with emotionally difficult subjects, and requires great discretion.
Position Requirements
  • Being a student at the University of Regina or University of Saskatchewan is preferred;
  • Having a high competency in reading and writing in French and in English;
  • Having experience in translation and/or in related fields;
  • Preferably being familiar with the Indian Residential School system or the history of colonialism in Canada.
  • Candidates will provide a cv and a letter of intent that explains how they meet these requirements and have the necessary skills to fulfill these tasks.
