Research Assistant, Finance and Management Science

In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be:
Reviewing the literature, participating in weekly discussions and making presentations, statistical data analysis, writing proposals, reports or papers.

Your general location of work will be your own residence or office room, and you will report to Dr. Shan Wang.

Required Number of Hours: 15 hours per week
Duration of Employment: 2023 Summer session, with the opportunity to renew the contract based on performance.

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)

We are recruiting students to participate in a couple of research projects in the field of information technologies and their applications in E-commerce, Management or Marketing. We welcome students from Business (Management Information Systems), Economics, Computer Science, Engineering or other fields to apply. We welcome applicants with demonstrated success in scholarly research and a strong record of publications.

Soft skills and ability:

  • Strong English reading and writing skills
  • Academic research design and execution ability; have completed graduate level research methodology courses
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and a strong ability to communicate ideas with other team members
Hard skills (You need to have one or more of the following hard skills):
  • Strong ability to retrieve, clean, transform and prepare second-hand data for further statistical data analysis; being able to know how to use a tool such as R, python, or other software to complete the data transformation tasks; being able to use SQL to retrieve data from database.
  • Statistical analysis or econometrics: being able to use statistical software such as R, and Stata to run regression analysis
  • Image analysis: being able to use software to process images at a scale.
  • Survey research design and structural equation modelling skills
We also welcome qualified MSc or Ph.D students to apply. Based on your performance, the participation of the project is likely to evolve into future research collaboration that adds significant value to student academic career.
