Research Assistant, Electron Microscopy Measurements

This posting will be used to hire 2 positions



Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.


Position Overview:





The researcher will be making quantitative measurements from electron microscopy images of the murine corpus callosum. Statistical comparisons will be made from these measurements.


Duties:




Prepare equipment and materials for research. Perform academic research, standard tests and experiments. Monitor and document research status and findings. Assist with duties related to the production of articles, publications, reports and presentations. Prepare literature reviews. Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation. Assist in the acquisition of research materials and supplies. Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping. Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:




Required: A- in statistics and neuroscience. A- in physics is an asset. Experience with ImageJ, 3DSlicer and/or Amira, ability to perform statistical analysis and an understanding of MRI and image processing are required. Able to work on a computer for an extended period of time.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.



The period of work will be from

May 30, 2025 - August 29, 2025

and the estimated total hours of work will be

5-350 hours

.
