Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
The Department of Surgery has 15 divisions and offers programs in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies. The Department also includes many other research groups who contribute to cutting edge advancement in areas such as transplantation, joint preservation and regeneration and surgical simulation technology. Founded in 1922, the Department of Surgery has been a leader in its field, striving to achieve a balance between technology and the human element that defines the art of surgery. The overarching mission is to restore health through surgical intervention, and to remember that patient dignity and comfort are integral to overall health.
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and in close collaboration with the Clinical Research Coordinator, the Research Assistant will contribute to studies examining skin scarring after burn injuries, with primary responsibilities focused on preparing project data for analysis.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the GCP guidelines are followed
  • Undertakes clinical data collection in Redcap
  • Assists in data verification with monitor
  • Evaluates and analyzes the images using image analysis software (e.g., Image J)
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of data
  • Maintains study timelines
  • May provide support in manuscript writing
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field required
  • Understanding of database (Redcap), Image analysis software (Image J), regulatory requirements (e.g., GCP, IRB), and research methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Prior experience in clinical research or a healthcare setting is preferred
  • Master's degree considered an asset
  • Previous experience with manuscript writing is considered an asset
