Position Summary



Data collection, analysis, and development of energy conversion processes model integrated with carbon dioxide capture for long term planning and forecasting. Research on finding methodologies to project energy improvements in efficiencies (energy intensities) of various technologies that integrate carbon capture. Development and analysis of different energy conversion plus CO2 capture scenarios to help the decision makers understand the ratio of energy used to produce in a quantifiable way and to formulate policies or to make strategic investment decisions towards sustainable energy growth. Assisting in analyzing various GHG mitigation options and cost curves through LEAP-WEAP models. Preparation of reports and presentations on the progress of established goals to the Technical Advisory Committee, NSERC Alliance Grant Program and NRCan's Energy Innovation Program. Keep up with the advancement and evolution of energy conversion technologies with CO2 capture by obtaining and analyzing the latest papers and information on the topic.

1. Energy Modelling

Assists in upcoming research topics related to energy conversion, transformation and utilization and provides specific research materials such as documents, data collection, excel sheets, and operation manuals. Data collection, analysis, and system modeling of energy conversion processes with CO2 capture
Update energy conversion processes with CO2 capture models previously developed in the team such as LEAP-Canada model.
Carries out a literature review of various studies available and develops future projections for improvement in energy efficiencies of equipment/process on the energy conversion plus CO2 capture pathways. Perform techno-economic and environmental modelling of the most promising energy conversion plus CO2 capture pathway

2. Report/Paper writing

Preparation of reports, posters and presentations on existing work and progress on
energy-modelling work to the Technical Advisory Committee, NSERC Alliance Grant Program and NRCan's Energy Innovation Program
Prioritizes studies and associated materials according to specific deadlines Writes paper to publish the results of research work

3. Administrative work

Participates in meetings to discuss new and established projects, abstract deadlines, grants, awards, and publications Travels for conferences/meetings pertaining to research clinic occasionally Provides updates and recommendations to Pl on study as necessary High School diploma required; Engineering student with extensive experience to perform the required tasks Knowledge in energy conversion processes with CO2 capture Experience in LEAP modeling Experience in GHG mitigation scenario development with integrated resources planning models will be ideal Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Access)
