The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta is one of Canada's leading academic health centres for pediatric specialty and subspecialty education and research. Position Summary




Working within the Autism Research Centre, the successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, Research Manager, and Research Associate and will provide study support for multiple research studies. The Research Assistant will follow ethics and other regulatory applications, support study activities specific to research protocols, recruit and consent research participants, and conduct research questionnaires with study participants. The Research Assistant will liaise with research partners, clinical staff, and other sites as well as facilitate communication between team members, support the day-to-day operations of studies, and track overall milestones and study targets to ensure timely recruitment and completion of studies. The incumbent will also conduct literature searches and reviews in support of the PI and projects, which includes the updating of the Principal Investigator's CV.

Duties



Participant Recruitment & Enrollment:

Screen, recruit, consent, and enroll families according to study protocols and inclusion/exclusion criteria.

Study Coordination & Scheduling:

Organize and schedule research assessments, phone contacts, and follow-up with participants while coordinating activities with research and healthcare staff.

Data Management:

Collect, enter, verify, track, and maintain research data and documents, ensuring accuracy and resolving queries in electronic databases.

Compliance & Reporting:

Adhere to study protocols, monitor safety issues/adverse events, and prepare reports, updates, and summaries for the PI and research team.

Research & Administrative Support:

Assist with literature reviews, grant application formatting, CV updates, and maintenance of research materials, supplies, and study awareness activities.

Collaboration & External Liaison:

Provide coordination and support to external research sites and contribute to overall team organization to achieve recruitment and study goals.

Minimum Qualifications



High school diploma. At least one year of research-related experience, including knowledge of data collection and data tracking. Experience working with challenging clients. Effective problem-solving and analytic thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while functioning as a cooperative team member. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Access. Demonstrated courtesy, compassion, respect, and professionalism in interactions with families, co-workers, and volunteers.

The following are considered an asset:



Bachelor's degree from an approved university training program. Recruitment experience, including use of social media platforms. Experience with Canadian Common CVs.
