Department of Geography
Position Summary:

  • Design and optimize geospatial data pipelines to integrate multi-source datasets (health records, satellite imagery, near-real-time environmental data) for vulnerability and risk assessments
  • Conduct advanced vulnerability and risk mapping of health centers, and coastal communities exposed to disasters, such as cyclones and floods
  • Develop innovative methodologies for compiling and analyzing geospatial databases to evaluate disaster impacts on healthcare access and service quality
  • Incorporate remote sensing and satellite imagery into real-time monitoring workflows during extreme weather events
  • Analyze patient and population-level datasets to assess healthcare accessibility, equity and service gaps in the high-risk regions
  • Author grant proposals, policy briefs, and scientific reports to secure dunging and influence decision-making at institutional and governmental levels
  • Lead or support cross-functional research initiatives, including environmental surveillance, biostatistical analysis, and impact evaluations
  • Plan and execute stakeholder engagement activities, such as workshops, conferences and technical presentations
  • Standardize data management systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and real-time decision support
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
  • Advanced proficiency in Geospatial tools (GIS, remote sensing, satellite image processing), Programming & Analytics (R. Python), Biostatistics and epidemiological data analysis and Scientific writing in English
  • Demonstrated expertise in vulnerability assessment, risk modeling and environmental health surveillance
Experience and Education:
  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geography, Public Health, Geospatial Science or related field
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in geospatial and health-related disaster risk research
