Prof. McCaffrey's Lab - GCI
Position Summary:
Contract Period: October 13, 2025, to October 12, 2026 (1-Year).
With minimal or no supervision, the candidate should be able to perform genotyping, colony management, and surgical procedures on mouse models of cancer.
Conduct research experiments using established protocols, processes and procedures such as cell culture, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, RNAi, and CRISPR, lentivirus, and confocal microscopy.
Culture and maintain cancer cell lines and primary cells using 3D culture systems.
Perform bioinformatic analyses on RNAseq and single cell RNAseq datasets, and quantitative image analysis on microscopy images.
Perform administrative tasks related to the project and maintain health and safety, animal, and ethics documentation and certification.
Assist lab members with experimental design, performing experiments, and analyzing data for ongoing and new projects
Assist with technical assistance and training undergraduate and graduate students.
Education & Experience:
MSc degree in biological or biomedical sciences.
Expertise in studies using mouse models of disease using genetic and orthotopic models.
Experience in cell biology and signaling using three-dimensional culture models.
Experience with PCR, molecular biology, and DNA plasmid engineering.
Expertise in immunostaining and confocal microscopy.
Advanced knowledge of data analysis using quantitative methods.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
A record of producing publication-quality research.
Effective organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
Effective written and oral communication in English and French.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team, as research often involves interdisciplinary collaboration.
