Hiring Unit:
Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences (EPS)
Position Summary:

  • Carrying out geochemical laboratory experiments
  • Interpret the results of the experiments and develop models of metal speciation in hydrothermal solutions
  • Preparation of experimental charges using quantitative laboratory techniques; e.g., crushing, sieving and analytical weighing of reagents
  • Preparation of experimental solutions and analytical standards
  • Characterization of run products using inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
  • Experience in conducting high temperature, high pressure fluid-rock experiments with a range of experimental methods
  • Experience in the use of established wet chemistry methods such as preparing solutions, measuring pH and sample dilutions
  • Experience with ICP-MS analyses and data collection
  • Research and problem-solving skills in Experimental Geochemistry
Experience and Education:
  • Must have MSc degree or higher
