As a Research Advisor in Strategic Research, you\xe2\x80\x99ll do just that. Working closely with the Manager and Senior Manager, you will play a key role leading research intelligence functions. You will provide expertise, advice, and guidance on mitigating risks and leveraging opportunities to build evidence-based strategies which support the organization\xe2\x80\x99s long-term goals and future direction. This position conducts ongoing environmental scanning and provides analysis and interpretation of scientific, business, legal, regulatory, and technical data to support annual business planning, including strategic initiatives.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model. In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. based home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

As a Research Advisor you will:

  • Lead, manage, and maintain simultaneous research projects and programs, including WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s research grants and corporate grants program
  • Provide expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholder committees and senior leaders to identify research priorities, questions, and design projects to address organizational needs
  • Collaborate with senior divisional leaders to operationalize the outcomes of research and provide assurance to the enterprise leadership team on outcomes of funded projects
  • Identify, critically assess, interpret, articulate, and make recommendations on business impact and value to WorkSafeBC strategies, programs, and initiatives, of information gathered through ongoing environmental scanning of internal and external sources
  • Participate in implementing departmental plan initiatives to achieve outcomes
  • Use technology and analytical tools to develop, collect and track metrics and impact measurements and analyze data to assess ongoing impact of the research grants program and other portfolio initiatives

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external clients, jurisdictional partners, and researchers
  • Gather and analyze information, anticipate, and recognize risks and opportunities, develop options and solutions, and make appropriate decisions and recommendations to managers
  • Interpret and translate complex scientific and non-scientific research (incuding quality and validity of the research, methods, design), business intelligence and analysis of evidence into plain language using multiple engaging formats for various audiences
  • Promote a client-centred, service-oriented approach to supporting internal and external clients
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to various audiences including senior leaders and external stakeholders, jurisdictional partners, researchers, and other agencies
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of knowledge translation and information sharing best practices, occupational health and safety, and other areas relevant to WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99 s mandate
Your background and experience:
  • A graduate degree in epidemiology, public policy, occupational hygiene, or library science
  • A minimum of three years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working with statistical and epidemiological analysis and research methods
  • We\xe2\x80\x99ll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
