The Canadian Collaboration for Prison Health and Education (CCPHE) is seeking an equity-focused and highly qualified applicant for the Research Advisor position. The CCPHE is a research unit located in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. The CCPHE conducts research projects aimed at enhancing the well-being of individuals who have experienced incarceration. Under the supervision of Director of CCPHE, the Research Advisor will advise the Geography of Overdose project to ensure its appropriateness and relevance to people with incarceration experience.Organizational Status
The Research Advisor will report to the Director of CCPHE. The position will work closely with CCPHE staff members including project managers, project coordinators, research assistants, and trainees. The position will also liaise with internal and external partners of the CCPHE.Work PerformedProvide guidance on the design and development of research proposals and protocols for the Geography of Overdose projectContribute in data development, project planning and execution to ensure appropriateness and relevance of the research to people who have experienced incarcerationActively engage in meetings to map out and define research goals and scopesProvide input into recruiting participants and collecting data through surveys, interviews and/or focus groupsAdvise on analysis of data and interpretation of findingsPrepare, compose, edit and proof documents such as manuscripts, reports, policy briefing and other types of communicationsPerform other duties as requiredConsequence of Error/JudgementThe Research Advisor makes professional decisions and recommendations on all aspects of the work and is responsible for the quality. Poor judgement or errors could result in delayed completion of projects or misinterpretation of information disseminated to leadership and decision-makers.This position will be responsible for access, collection, use and disclosure of personal information in accordance with the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RSBC 1996) and other UBC privacy and security policies.
