Position Summary:
The Research Network on Women, Peace and Security (RN-WPS) seeks to hire a Research Administrator to provide support to its members. The position is established within the framework of the Mobilizing Insights in Defence and Security (MINDS) Collaborative Networks program of the Department of National Defence. The position will facilitate knowledge exchanges among researchers working in Canadian institutions and within the Global South; mobilize Canadian expertise, support, and support innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary research; disseminate research results to an academic, policy-making and general public audience in both English and French; and help to train the next generation of experts in gender, security and defence. The position focuses on three strategic challenges identified by MINDS.

Climate Change is growing, multi-dimensional and gender-differentiated threat to national resilience.
Primary Responsibilities:
(i) Perform and organize activities to support the daily operations of the unit by ensuring that administrative services are carried out in accordance with established goals and objectives.
(ii) Implement administrative procedures or systems that are moderately complex in support of the faculty, department or unit\xe2\x80\x99s operations and ensure activities meet or exceed established quality requirements.
(iii) Respond to requests for support from researchers, on the preparation of grant applications, funding issues, regulatory agency rules and regulations, and University policies and procedures.
(iv) Administer and monitor contracts, proposals and other legal instruments by reviewing and processing applications, certificates, and other forms, and ensuring that they are complete. Follow-up as needed.
(v) Apply the most appropriate procedures for performing research and ethics administration activities, based on information received. Ensure that activities are performed in accordance with University and policies and procedures.
(vi) Communicate information to the research community on new programs, changes to programs, submission procedures, deadlines, updates on regulatory changes, etc.
(vii) Compile statistics and data for inclusion in reports. Update documents and reports, either in print or on the website.
(viii) Respond to questions related to philanthropic gifts, donations and endowment funds.
(ix) Establish and foster effective working relationships by identifying needs and providing support in the delivery of services. Assess and resolve administrative problems. When appropriate, inform supervisor and formulate recommendations.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Comprehensive understanding of university systems and trends in post-secondary education in Canada and internationally. Experience in organizing networking events, conferences, and special events. Experience assisting with the development of communication strategies. Demonstrated strategic thinking, vision and communication skills with project management experience. Experience working in research environment an asset. Demonstrated ability to liaise and interact with a multitude of stakeholders (program officers, students, post-doc researchers, visiting fellows). Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet multiple concurrent deadlines. Experience working with proposals and budgets. Strong proficiency with data management software tools and website maintenance. Knowledge of WMS, MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (fluent) on a scale of 0-4.
