CBC North is looking for someone with a natural curiosity who loves to tell stories with rich audio, compelling visuals, and great writing. As a Reporter/Editor, your primary objective is to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering and presentation of program material for all our media platforms, audio, video, digital and social.
The North is a place some of us are fortunate enough to call home, a place of culture, tradition, challenges, perseverance and innovation. The Yukon was built around stories whispered, sung, shared around the circles of campfires.
As journalists and members of communities ourselves, we work to acknowledge the wisdom, tragedies, recoveries and joy, all of which shape the social, political, economic and natural topography of the territory.
There will be opportunities to travel, to work on special projects and to build a career with a team that serves the North as people\'s broadcaster.
You will develop and maintain contact with a variety of sources as well as work in close co-operation with your program unit. You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, conducting an analysis of the facts and information gathered, drawing conclusions or raising issues requiring further investigation, and contributing ideas, written scripts, and program content.
You will also, as required, critically edit material written by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station. Your work will be governed by CBC\'s journalistic and broadcasting policy and protocols.
In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You\xe2\x80\x99re innovative and will champion new story treatments and new workflows, and will help create a diverse range of content on our radio, television, digital and social platforms. You\xe2\x80\x99re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.
As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population across the Yukon and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.
You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. You have a solid understanding of the diverse culture of northern Canada.
