Job Description

This full-time replacement position will be available starting March 12, 2025 at Terry Fox Elementary School located at 1648 Rue Langevin, Saint-Hubert, QC J4T 1X7.



NATURE OF WORK:



The main and usual role of the employee in this job classification is to create and supervise the daycare program. As part of the school's educational project, they contribute to the overall development of students, taking into account their interests, needs and the school regulations. They look after students' general well-being, while ensuring their health and safety.



They also perform technical tasks related to the operation of the daycare service, notably concerning the management of financial, human and material resources. They are also called upon to carry out technical work relating to human resources in the school environment.



DUTIES:



Together with the school principal, they participate in the planning and development of the activity program, and in the evaluation of the daycare service's achievements, taking into account the school's educational project and ensuring its application. They oversee the organization of special activities, particularly during pedagogical days. They may also perform some or all of the duties of a school educator.



Under the responsibility of management, they draw up the operating rules for the daycare service and the rules of procedure for registering, taking attendance, welcoming students and accompanying them until departure with the parent. They oversee and register students for daycare services and lunch-time supervision.



They prepare and lead meetings for parents on the organization and operation of the daycare and supervision services. Inform parents and students about established rules.



Oversee student attendance reports, enter relevant data in the appropriate software and produce various reports and statistics; record information provided by the educator on student behavior.



They ensure compliance with laws, regulations and various measures applicable to a daycare service, particularly with regard to hygiene, safety, prevention, cleanliness of equipment and premises, and the storage and distribution of medication. They are responsible for daycare and lunch supervision communications with the school administration, parents, school educators, educator principal class, noon-hour supervision staff, school board workers and outside agencies. Within the scope of their authority, they follow up on complaints or forward them to the appropriate department.



They assist the school administration in drawing up budget forecasts: they prepare and analyze the data needed to estimate revenues from enrolments, subsidies, allocations and various operating expenses.



In accordance with established procedures, they are responsible for invoicing, collecting and recovery of sums due. They handle cash receipts and payments, keep petty cash and make deposits. They prepare various reports, official statements, financial statements and reconcile accounts.



They monitor the daycare service and supervision budgets and control expenditures; fill out various forms and applications for grants and subsidies, and transmit information on budget balances.



Reporting to the school principal, they participate in establishing staffing needs based on student enrolment forecasts, determining work schedules and preparing a vacation calendar for school educators, principal class educators and noon-hour supervision staff.



Under the responsibility of the school principal, they collaborate in the development and maintenance of harmonious relations among the school educators, the principal class educators and the staff assigned to the noon-hour supervision service. They prepare and lead daycare service and lunch-time supervision meetings, assign certain tasks, and work with team members to assess the service rendered.



Keep attendance records for school educators, principal class educators and noon-hour supervision staff, and verify hours worked. They take the necessary steps to replace absent staff, taking into account the rules in force.




They participate in the physical and material organization of the daycare service and supervision services. They keep an inventory of materials and equipment. In accordance with established policy, they order or purchase materials, equipment or services; discuss prices with suppliers and submit them to parents.



They use a computer and the various software programs required to carry out their work. They keep the various appropriate registers up to date; they may carry out searches.



They may be called upon to introduce less experienced technicians to the work, as well as to coordinate and supervise the work of educators and, as required, other support staff in the tasks performed by these personnel in relation to the implementation of technical operation programs for which they are responsible.




If needed, carries out other related tasks.




QUALIFICATIONS:



Hold a DEC in Early Childhood Education or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent.



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of: a standard first aid course of a minimum of eight (8)-hour duration or a refresher course of a minimum of six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in previously; Possess excellent communication skills in English and French both oral and written; Possess good communication and teamwork skills; Show initiative, maturity and a good sense of responsibilities.


SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.


SALARY:

$923.30 to $1,232.70 per 35-hour week, according to qualifications and experience.
