Job Description


The Retail Sales Representative primarily provides retail sales coverage and coverage of retail special projects for an assigned retail territory. They are responsible for representing ACOSTA and our clients through store coverage and executing objectives as set forth by the Client, or the Retail Team Sales Manager to achieve superior in-store results in an assigned territory.

Essential Functions of this Position:

  • Expectations on Call Delivery and Client Priorities & Objectives
  • Execute Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s Steps of a Call in every store visit.
  • Deliver 100% coverage every reporting cycle of assigned territory according to Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s frequency plans.
  • Deliver all client priorities and objectives. Effectively communicate Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s information to store personnel.
  • Maintain Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s standards in assigned stores according to customer shelving guidelines and planograms/modular.
  • Achieve new item placement according to Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s speed to shelf guidelines and maintain 100% distribution on all existing items i.e. fix tags and out of stocks.
  • Develop relationships with store personnel that are conducive to achieving our client goals and objectives.
  • Be prepared to address store personnel as a group when the opportunity arises to communicate or sell a specific client promotion, contest, etc.
  • In store expert in understanding total store sales, store consumers, local store competitive set, category/aisle expert.
  • Be available for Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s work-withs when required as well as regional meetings.
  • Sales Expectations
  • Meet or exceed sales quota objectives for store level selling programs: account specific bookings, up selling events, merchandising vehicles.
  • Participate in all Smucker\xe2\x80\x99s incentive contests, promotions, etc.
  • Share best practices with your DM and peers.
  • Retail Reporting
  • Accurate entry and transmission of data by assigned deadline. Includes NARS and Strategic Connectivity reporting.
  • Answer all NARS questions for all assigned clients and report any issues via PPC. Retail reporting must be accurate and transmitted on a daily basis.
  • Communication/ Administrative
  • Communicate daily with District Manager to ensure information being utilized and relayed is up-to-date and accurate. Respond to calls and emails within a 24 hours period or as requested.
  • Communicate all store issues as soon as possible with as much detail as possible.
  • On time, accurate record keeping \xe2\x80\x93 special reports, mailings, expense/time reports, call reports and customer forms, etc.
  • Follow company policy in execution of work, including sign-in/out at all stores where required.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times according to Acosta guidelines. Do not compromise personal integrity or Acosta integrity in the execution of your work.
  • Requirement to store small amounts of POS materials to manage the work week.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Prior retail merchandising experience is preferred.
  • High School required; university/college degree/diploma preferred.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build and leverage relationships and influence for results.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Assertive, creative, team player and proven sense of urgency.
  • Ability to give an effective sales presentation to store or department managers.
  • Proficiency with computers, including knowledge of business information support systems (MS Office \xe2\x80\x93 Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point). Experience using proprietary data collection system an asset)
  • Lift up to 60 pounds.
  • A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and required insurance
  • Able to drive a car for extended period of time.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel and occasional weekend work (demos, food shows, or special client programs).
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, grasp and stand on a daily basis. Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. Must have good vision, dexterous use of both hands and be able to operate a calculator, fax machine, telephone, copier, hand truck, pallet jack, hammer, screwdriver, a drill and case cutter.
