Rental Equipment Technician (part Time Temporary)

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Studio Resources and working under the direction of Equipment Room Lead (ERL), the incumbent assists in the facilitation of equipment service centers in FAAD and provides support for the student curricular activities. The position requires a high degree of technical knowledge of media equipment, hardware, software and all specialized equipment for programs in FAAD. The incumbent provides customer service to students over the counter, reserving, preparing and checking equipment rentals for various programs. Performs daily inventory, cleaning, and light maintenance to equipment as per need, and/or by the ERC and the ERT. Flexible hours and evenings and weekends required.





What You'll Be Doing




Providing excellent customer service; Performing Rental Check-in/outs; Documenting Customer accounts; Handling Student/Faculty Requests, and problem-solving issues; Adhering to Service centers policies and procedures; Complying with Health and Safety Regulations; Prepping and Staging Rentals; Lifting up to 50lbs; Assisting in loading equipment into class related activities; Maintains equipment records, as well as Inventory, Cleaning and organization of service centers; Staying up-to-date with new gear; Assisting OWSP (Ontario Work Study Plan) Students assigned to support service center; Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:




2-year diploma/degree in Media Arts, Broadcast Television, Film Production, Photography or a related field. Minimum of 2 years technical experience in the field of film, television and/or broadcast production, including the knowledge of electrical safety (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Computer literacy, digital workflow, familiarity with appropriate software and studio equipment as well as manual dexterity is required. Windows and Mac operating systems required. Experience in an educational environment will be considered an asset.
