Consultant Qualifications

Position Overview:

Island Health is looking for a Senior Cerner Consultant (Solution Architect/CPOE Specialist). You will play a vital role in leading and overseeing the design, development, and implementation of Cerner solutions within healthcare organizations. You will serve as a subject matter expert and work closely with clients to analyze their business requirements, provide strategic guidance, and ensure the successful delivery of Cerner solutions. Your expertise in Cerner applications and technologies will be instrumental in driving project success and achieving client objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Solution Architecture: Collaborate with clients to understand their healthcare business requirements, assess existing systems, and design comprehensive Cerner solutions. Develop architectural designs, blueprints, and technical specifications to guide implementation teams. Particular emphases is on solution components and designs required to implement Cerner solutions in Ambulatory Care settings.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and technical leadership to project teams, including developers, analysts, and other consultants. Serve as a mentor and trusted advisor, ensuring adherence to best practices and Cerner standards; assist resources in growing their understandings and skills in informatics designs and Cerner functionality.
  • Project Management: Inform the planning and execution of Cerner implementation projects. Identify any gaps/issues/risks in project scope, project plans, and resources
  • Requirements Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of client requirements and translate/document them into technical specifications and system configurations. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
  • System Integration: Oversee the integration of Cerner solutions with other healthcare systems, such as EMR, billing, and laboratory systems. Provide guidance to technical teams to ensure seamless data exchange and interoperability.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Inform on test strategies and plans to validate the functionality, performance, and interoperability of Cerner solutions. Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews/audits to ensure compliance with industry best practices and client requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams, to identify and address technical issues, risks, and dependencies. Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels to drive project success.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Application and Architecture and integrations between CPOE and ambulatory tools and solutions:
  • Ambulatory Order Entry workflows including related scheduling functionality, requisition routing and printing, referral management.
  • Ambulatory use PM Office, Winn32 Scheduling and Revenue Cycle including conversation design, location design.
  • Working with Laboratory, Medical Imaging, and other ancillary departments to ensure order design, presentation and workflow supports both CPOE end users as well as departmental workflows.
  • Day of Treatment PowerPlans with schedulable Orders-to-Scheduling workflows.
  • Strategy development as it relates to order and workflow design for optimal in-clinic and in-department ordering experiences.
  • Experience designing and developing custom solutions using rules, augmented pre-processing scripts, CCL programs, etc. to workaround challenges with native scheduling, ordering and registration workflows.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master\'s degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) working as a Cerner Consultant or Architect, with a focus on healthcare IT implementations.
  • Strong expertise in Cerner applications, modules, and technologies, including Cerner Millennium, PowerChart, Revenue Cycle, and Clinical Documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry standards, regulations, and best practices, such as HL7, HIPAA, and Meaningful Use.
  • Proven experience in solution architecture, including designing and implementing complex Cerner solutions in large-scale healthcare environments.
  • Solid understanding of system integration methodologies, including HL7 interfaces, data migration, and interoperability standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Cerner Certified Professional (CCP) or Cerner Certified Architect (CCA), are highly desirable.
Requirement Detail/Qualifications

Architects at Experience Level 1 are responsible for implementing the Chief Information Officer\xe2\x80\x99s vision and strategy at the enterprise level. Architects at this level should demonstrate in their submitted examples that they have successfully led multi-discipline analysis and design teams in support of strategic projects, and that they reported to senior executives and had individuals performing functions at a senior levels reporting directly to them. Typical deliverables are plans, strategies, architectures and policies that affect the whole organization and show how to use IM/IT in the business in an innovative way to enable business transformation. Architects at Experience Level 1 ensure that business and IM/IT are in alignment, through the linkage of the business mission, strategy and processes of an organization to its IM/IT strategy, while establishing appropriate governance mechanisms. Architects at Experience Level 1 are expected to have skills in one of the Architect subject areas and also have the skills of Architects at Experience level 2.
