Remediation Technician

When disasters happen, Remediation Technicians at On Side are truly on 'your side'. Asbestos and mould can pop-up anywhere and requires special knowledge and experience to deal with. Remediation Technicians can perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and clients.

Remediation Technicians are responsible for:

Ensuring a safe work area from asbestos and mould by knowing how to remove and remediate potential dangers from the work site Identifying and disposing of asbestos and mould contaminated materials

What you bring:

Perform work following procedure and legislation Ensure cleanliness of site, vehicle, and tools Interest in cross training into Water Damage and Fire Damage Interest in active learning and growing with the company Basic carpentry skills Flexibility with work schedules and hours Strong attention to detail and ability to follow scope of work Organized with a good sense of time-- you're rarely late and know where all your tools are Physically fit-- remediation can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places Friendly and enjoys working in a team! A safety-first mindset Valid driver's licence and a clean criminal record (we do check) Clean shaven face (if applicable) for every shift (for full mask fit) Will wear full PPE as required for duration of shift Comfortable in confined spaces Good customer service Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn't required:

Asbestos remediation ticket A background in demolition Construction experience

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

Schedule:

8 hour shift Monday to Friday On call Overtime Weekends as needed

Are you able to wear full PPE and work within containment as required for the duration of your shift? Do you have a valid (or expired) Mould, Asbestos Remediation ticket or other remediation tickets? Please list here. Have you ever worked with hazardous materials besides asbestos and mould? Please describe. Are you physically fit? This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to bend, crouch, reach, kneel, etc. Will this activity be a problem? Are you interested in growing with the company and opportunities for advancement? This position will consist of active learning and evolving and working towards building a career. Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid. Do you have basic carpentry skills? This position requires the Remediation Tech to build showers and containment walls as needed.
Please describe your experience using hand and power tools:

Will you be clean shaven every shift (if applicable) so that full face respirators will fit properly? Attitude is key! Are you ambitious? Are you easy to get along with and treat others with respect? Are you a good listener and communicator? Do you want to genuinely help co-workers and clients and people in general? Please explain. Are you able to work later than scheduled when required? A job may require an additional hour or two of overtime to be fully complete. Being available to work a bit extra to get the job done is helpful (vs returning the next day for a quick finish). Overtime is paid. Cross training is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Demolition and Water Damage. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles?
Experience:

identifying and disposing of asbestos: 1 year (preferred) demolition: 1 year (preferred) identifying and disposing of mould: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

Canadian Driver's License (required)
