Globally, we manage over 320 million square feet of client portfolios across 30,000+ locations in North America, Europe, Middle East, Australia and Asia.Further information is available atSUMMARYThis role is for a self-performing (\xe2\x80\x9chands on\xe2\x80\x9d) Relief Shift Engineer who will work independently under minimal supervision to provide a high level of operational services to our clients and our building. The Relief Shift Engineer performs operational work in a central heating and cooling plant or central heating plant in a hospital environment and will install, maintain and overhaul machinery as required within a safety-first environment. The Relief Shift Engineer will require familiarity in the use of plans and blueprints to complete preventative maintenance, installations, and repairs and implement improvement measures. The Relief Shift Engineer will work with an interdisciplinary team of skilled tradespeople to both service and efficiently alleviate mechanical and building issues. The Relief Shift Engineer will be expected to work alongside, and in other trade disciplines as appropriate.The position requires an inherent mechanical aptitude combined with years of experience, troubleshooting and optimizing equipment. Beyond understanding mechanical systems, the Relief Shift Engineer will also possess critical thinking and planning skills that best enable them to apply that understanding in a creative and practical fashion in a safe manner.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates, monitors, maintains and repairs Hospital plant and facilities to ensure efficient operation
  • Execute the preventative maintenance program as per existing planning and scheduling.
  • Complete the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of Plant Facilities and equipment as required.
  • Respond to work orders with varying time constraints in a proficient manner.
  • Identify opportunities to work as a team and involve other team members in order to resolve concerns as effectively as possible.
  • Maintain detailed records of technical information and labour hours of repairs and improvements
  • Comply with all Company policies as required.
  • Plant Services work falling within the scope of work defined in the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement (FMSA) as and when required, directed or assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbal and written.
  • Have some proficiency in computer usage.
  • Health Care Facility experience is an asset.
  • Assertive and self-motivated, able to analyze and prioritize tasks.
  • Intimate knowledge of equipment and processes within scope of job.
  • Constantly open to new ideas, open to change and improvement, capable of moving ideas into actions by leveraging planning skills and the ability to involve and motivate others.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and trouble techniques of equipment problems.
  • Creative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • General knowledge of blueprint reading and building plans
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Must possess either a valid Power Engineer 3rd or 4th Class, as specified by Management.
The Relief Shift Engineer 3 holds at least a Class 3 Power Engineer\'s Certificate in BC and the Relief Shift Engineer 4 Holds at least a Class 4 Power Engineer\'s Certificate in BC.This is a full-time contract position with a current union rate of $45.31 per hour for Relief Shift Engineer 3 and $41.16 per hour for Relief Shift Engineer 4.Work Environment
  • Clean, professional health care facility and Union shop environment.
  • Must wear all PPE including company provided uniforms.
  • Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, packing, stacking and bending.
  • Daily interaction with clinical staff.
  • Overtime and varied day/evening/night tasks required
