Job Description

Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd., a leading bulk material export facility located on the North Vancouver waterfront, is seeking an individual to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the reliability and performance of mechanical systems and equipment at the terminal. Reporting to the Reliability Assistant Manager, this role focuses on analyzing equipment performance, conducting failure analysis, and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. The Field Reliability Engineer plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment efficiency, and ensuring long-term mechanical reliability. This position will be reporting to Assistant Manager, Reliability.

Key Responsibilities:



Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to identify root causes and eliminating equipment defects for re-occurrence that affect the lines Overall Equipment Efficiencies (OEE)

Monitor and analyze equipment reliability through regular inspections, condition monitoring techniques and performance indicators

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Support the maintenance team in the field troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, providing technical expertise and guidance.

Assist in the preparation and review of reliability reports, identifying trends and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment histories, and reliability analyses in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Responsible for the management and development condition monitoring programs (vibration analysis, oil sample and other programs)

Participate in reliability-focused projects, providing input on mechanical integrity, risk assessments, and maintenance strategies.

Ensure all reliability and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Skills and Abilities:



Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment in an industrial or terminal environment

Proficiency in reliability engineering techniques such as root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).

Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools and techniques, such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, and condition monitoring.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess equipment performance and recommend improvements.

Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.

Knowledge of safety regulations and maintenance best practices applicable to mechanical systems.

Education and Experience:



A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical or Reliability Engineering (or a related field)

Membership as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or equivalent association

Minimum 3-5 years' work experience in reliability or maintenance engineering; or 1-2 years' work experience in conjunction with formal Reliability Training/Education

Working knowledge of preventative maintenance and reliability improvement programs, including root cause failure analysis

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and/or schematic diagrams

Experience working in unionized environment preferred
