We are looking for Reliability Engineer to apply the reliability process and best practices as defined by Rio Tinto Asset Management to improve the overall safety and performance of IOC assets. The role is responsible for enabling the operating areas to increase the performance and output of IOC's assets by applying the fundamentals of reliability, providing the reliability expertise to address underperforming assets, and enabling the transition of the organization to a culture of reliability.

Reporting to the Superintendent and working in a diverse team, you will :
  • Be an active member of the Reliability collaborative forum to ensure IOC are aware of any new reliability initiatives being performed across other Rio Tinto sites and to ensure other Rio Tinto sites are kept up to date with any reliability initiatives being performed at IOC
  • Facilitate improvements in site loss data and utilize site performance metrics (such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Utilization, Availability, MTBF, etc.) to identify the major causes of loss and use this data to focus resources on improving performance
  • Facilitate the use of reliability analysis tools and systems including 6 Sigma, RCM, Tap Root, PMO, DE & RCA
  • Monitor, analyze and report on equipment performance and reliability to identify improvement opportunities (cost, reliability, capacity) and provide reliability reports as required
  • Evaluate operating practices and provide detailed performance reports to support continuous improvement in cost, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Assess and question the suitability of current equipment strategies and have maintenance strategies modify/change where necessary
  • Work closely with Planners, Team leaders and Superintendents

  • Bachelor Engineering degree or Technologist certification in a related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in Mining or heavy industrial / processing environment
  • Computer literacy - Microsoft suite, SAP
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering
  • Experience in diagnosis and resolution of technically advanced problems.
  • Sound understanding of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles
  • Ability to apply Six Sigma Principles to the resolution of technically advanced problems
  • Understanding and application of condition monitoring techniques
